Home Our Aircraft

Dunn Aviation is constantly upgrading and improving the fleet. With our continual building of the business expanding into new and innovative uses for the aircraft, maintaining a state of the art fleet is paramount to the continued success of the company.

Aerial firefighting is a huge part of our operation, having the largest family owned fleet of firefighting aircraft in Australia is a proud position that we plan to maintain at a high standard.

The aircraft fleet

The Ballidu hanger is the epi-centre of the Dunn Aviation fleet. Any of the aircraft can be found there receiving the routine 100 hour service, having the application equipment changed, such as spray booms and pump swapped for the fertiliser spreader, or quite simply being washed and cleaned.

Dunn Aviation believes reliability is a vital ingredient in a successful business. Part of that success can be attributed to the use of turbine powered aircraft. With greater engine reliability and less breakdowns, which cause a loss in productivity, we can offer greater assurance that work will be completed with fewer hold-ups.

Working on the aircraft

These aircraft are expensive. The cost of a new turbine can be up to ten times greater than that of piston powered aircraft. Does this mean that we have to raise the cost of application? No, in fact, with the turbine powered aircraft the payload is greater, therefore the hourly cost of operating such aircraft is relative to productivity.

The turbine aircraft do burn a greater amount of fuel per hour but the JetA1 fuel needed for turbines is significantly cheaper than conventional Avgas fuel which the piston powered aircraft operate on. All of this, we believe, will have greater long-term benefits for both the company and ultimately our customers.

The Dunn Aviation fleet consists of three Airtractor 802 aircraft, two Airtractor 602 aircraft an Ayres Turbo Thrush, six M18A Dromaders and a Cessna Ag Husky.

To compliment the 802 aircraft Dunn Aviation utilises two AT-602 aircraft for firefighting and Agricultural Operations. This picture was taken at Perth International Airport whilst on standby.

In addition to our Airtractor aircraft the Ayres Turbo Thrush VH-IWI aircraft is used primarily for agricultural duties. It is also the ideal aircraft for junior pilots moving from piston powered aircraft into turbine powered aircraft.

M18 Dromader aircraft play a big part in our firefighting fleet, this picture was taken at the end of the 2004/2005 firebombing season.

Our Aircraft

Dunn Aviation has a strong belief in the future of this industry and part of that future is the introduction and trainning of junior pilots aspiring to make a career in this high demand industry. After starting with the company on aircraft loading duties getting to know the industry and all that is involved persons with potential and qualifications can start their career in the Cessna Ag Husky, a piston powered aircraft. Dunn Aviation has started off a number of pilots who have gone on to have highly sucessful careers in Agricultural and Firefighting Aviation. Pictured below is Dunn Aviation's Cessna Husky VH-WBT.
